Character and Mascot Design
We wanted to give the logo a retro feel, but still loog modern enough to be playing in 2019
The characters were designed to be completely puppet-able, and each member of the family was adapted to suit the new style and tone for the show

Joey - Cats Don't Dance
As part of an ongoing goal to challenge myself to create original, on-brand content, I had the opportunity to create an additional side character for the film Cats Don't Dance. I was given a list of specifications, including the character's name, role in the film, backstory, and some style guidelines. From this, I developed a character with great attention to detail, all the way down to matching the colored line style of the film.
Niko's limited color pallette allows hot topic to use alternate colors to represent different stles and merchandise types within the store. Whether consumers are fans of anime or heavy metal, punk or goth, Niko has a mood to fit all of them.

The Munsters
As lead character designer, I was tasked with oversight of a team of four to create a pitch packet for a modern Munsters reboot in the form of a family cartoon. Our team adapted the CBS series for a modern CN audience, paying careful attention to the differences between the networks and drawing on themes and techniques already present in CN content, such as Total Dramarama and Teen Titans Go .
Bad Niko
Bad Niko is a mascot developed for a mock international campaign for Hot Topic. The goal of this project was to present an American brand in a way that would appeal to a new audience, unfamiliar with the brand. This meant merging successful motifs already present in that market with Hot Topic's unique branding strategy. The result was a youthful looking product with great merchandizing potential, allowing the company to create products out of the mascot as well as promotional content. The mascot is designed to be compatible for rendering in 3D software, but is also successful as a 2D design.
